Ramsey Abbey School is now an Information Communication Technology College and is situated amongst the grounds and inside of the Ancient Ramsey Abbey building. Ramsey Abbey School became a school around the 19th century.

Ramsey Abbey School teaches students from year 10 to year 13. If a student wishes to leave the school after they have done their GCSE they can do or they can stay on and move into the Sixth Form.

There are around 800 students taught at Ramsey Abbey School and over 300 of them are Sixth Form students. As I had said earlier Ramsey Abbey school had recently become an Information Communication Technology college. This shows that the ICT services within the school are very extensive and that the school may receive larger grants in the future.

The school has many facilities and activities for the students; these include:

  • School canteen - Where Sixth Formers can work in their free time There is an extensive food service. There are plans to make the canteen bigger and have part of it as an internet cafe.

  • All day IT access- There is access to computers all day even at lunch and after school. There is a study room with computers in for Sixth From students.  At break and lunchtimes there is also an opportunity for students to play games on the computers but the games are locked through lesson times.

  • All day library - With many facilities such as book searches, internet searches, career searches the library is a wonderful place for students to work in.

  • Homework clubs- Somewhere to go after school to do extra work. It can be organised with a teacher for them to be there so they can help if there is a problem with a piece of work.

  • Sport clubs - After school there are sports clubs for people to use and enjoy. If people want to they can do academic activities. If Sixth form want they can have sports lesson within a school day.

  • Sixth Form council - Gives the students a chance to put forward their views and opinions and to see if they can change the way things are done so that it is better for all the students.

  • Careers interviews - To help and give students ideas of what they want to do in the future and what they should do next.

  • Work experience - This gives a student experience in the world of work as well as the knowledge, which can be a big step when moving into final employment.

  • Careers and University room - Here Sixth Form students can look at university prospectuses and careers information on their own to give a better idea of what needs to be done if they wish to move on in the they want.
